Castle College Nottingham is proud to be hosting the East Midlands regional finals of the BOC Apprentice Welding 2010 competition on May 26th 2010.

Six colleges (including Castle College) within the region are currently holding their own internal competitions to select two winners each to go forward to the event in May. Each of the finalists will complete four test pieces which consist of the following:

1. Positional Welding with MMA: WPS MMA - 01. Ferritic steel butt weld in plate (without backing, welded from one side)
2. Positional Welding with MAG: WPS MAG - 01. Ferritic steel butt weld in plate (without backing, welded from one side)
3. Positional Welding with MMA: WPS MMA - 02. Ferritic steel weld (plate to pipe)
4. Positional Welding with MAG: WPS MAG - 02. Ferritic steel fillet weld (plate to pipe)

There will be a monetary prize money for the winner and runners up. In The winner and first runner up will be put forward to the UK National Finals on the 6th and 7th July 2010 which are also being held at the NETA centre of Castle College Nottingham.
