Study Art & Design Courses In Nottingham
Our Art and Design courses are taught at the Beeston Campus which has newly built specialist art and design facilities.
Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
The Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is a one year course. It is for both international and home students who want to develop a specialised portfolio to enable them to progress to an art and design-related degree at a British university.
It is a very intensive course and is aimed at students, who have previously studied Art to a high level i.e, A-Level or equivalent. If you have not previously studied Art, the BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design would be a more suitable choice. (See below).
The course begins with an introductory study of all aspects of art, craft and design through a variety of projects. Following this you will be able to specialise in a chosen area, which you will decide through discussion with your personal tutor. The tutors are specialists in a variety of areas and will offer encouragement and advice to help you develop a portfolio of work relevant to your chosen specialism. Specialist areas could include: painting, sculpture, photography and film, print-making, ceramics, fashion and textiles, graphic design, illustration, film and video.
In addition to this you will have some English language classes.
Students on this course will be encouraged to apply for the universities of their choice and will receive specialist guidance from tutors.
Recently, students have progressed to degree courses such as: Fine Art, Textiles for Fashion, Interior Design, Illustration and Animation, Graphic Design, Car Design and Furniture Design.
Entry Requirements:
You must be 18 years old and have good school leaving qualifications particularly in Art or art-related subjects. You should send examples of your work to support your application which can be sent on a CD along with your application form.
English language must be at IELTS 5.0 or equivalent to allow you to achieve IELTS 6.0 - 6.5 by the end of the course.
